Artist: Carrie Leigh Dickey
About the Artwork: There is such beauty outside. As the seasons transform from Winter to Spring, crocuses pop up their vibrant heads and buds on tree branches swell. One of my favorite views is of the cherry blossom trees down by Miller Park. I love the way the light and sky plays between the branches. I love the way the sweet blossoms rain down on my head like kisses as a pass. From the body of work entitled “cur•rent [ kur-uhnt ] flow marked by force or strength.” With this work, I am exploring the currents that shaped the cityscape of Winston-Salem, as well as, the currents that flow today within the city.
