Roman Corridor, 2021
Artist: John Coyne
About the Artwork: I find that I am drawn to spaces that seem empty but imply the inhabitants of it—often times from many years ago. When visiting Rome Italy, I was interested in the ancient spaces that were not currently occupied or accessible to visitors—looking through the gates, peeking into societies from long ago. I wanted to capture the scale and emptiness of the place, but also its sense of mystery and timelessness.
