Untitled Series, 2021
Artist: Carrie Leigh Dickey
About the Artwork: From the body of work entitled “cur•rent [ kur-uhnt ] flow marked by force or strength.” With this work, I am exploring the currents that shaped the cityscape of Winston-Salem, as well as, the currents that flow today within the city. These three pieces showcase the voices of the past that influenced the city: the Bowman Gray family of Graylyn Estate, the Moravians and the town of Salem, and R.J. Reynolds and his wife Katherine Smith of Reynolda House.
