Deep Thought
Artist: Marsha Thrift Marion
About the Artwork: This young lady was begun with an acrylic background. After dropping the splatters of rubbing alcohol and water onto the wet canvas and watching the paint spread around, I began drawing and painting the figure from a photograph I had taken of a model who posed for my drawing group. I added to the scene using miscellaneous papers, handmade papers, oriental fibers, and strings applied with polymer medium. I then enhanced the scene with acrylic paint, stamps, and prints. This was an ongoing process of several layers that dried before the next layer was added or painted. These mixed media pieces are always fun to do . . . I never quite know what I will end up with . . . it's always a surprise!
