in the land of the ik, 2020
Artist: Frank Campion
About the Artwork: This painting was inspired by a visit to a village of the ancient and primitive people, the Ik ("heek"), in the hill country at the edge of Uganda's savannah. The color comes straight out of this crude village and my memory of it and these lovely, innocent people, has remained vivid. As with most of my work, it is an exploration of contrasting energies: hard edge vs. soft edge, thin vs. thick, rational vs. random.
Media: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 92" wide by 46" tall
