Small Problems, 2016
Artist: Terri Dowell-Dennis
About the Artwork: Small Problems began as a meditation on human suffering. I first created a series of small watercolor paintings that were then treated like fabric, washed thoroughly, ironed, and dried before being cut apart and quilted in a traditional log cabin pattern. The ritualistic treatment of these small paintings was a way of imposing the idea of nurture and healing onto situations where people suffer.
Media: Rag paper, watercolor, machine stitching, colored pencil
Dimensions: 35" wide by 45" tall
