About the Artwork: Each bearded iris I draw has a unique personality that it gradually reveals as we commune together on my veranda. Staring intently with a mixture of frustration and adoration, I try in vain to capture its elusive beauty. Eventually, it reveals its personality and mood to me, if reluctantly. This giant purple and yellow iris is a spirited, fiery one, preferring to dance—like its partner—with wild abandon!
Media: Soft pastel, pencil, charcoal
Dimensions: 32” wide by 44” tall
