About the Artwork: I am fascinated by the growth of rhododendron bushes in the western North Carolina Mountains. This fantastical interpretation of a mountain landscape highlights how singular plants—in this case, rhododendron and blue wild flowers—manage to stand out amid the mountain environment’s endless curiosities. Variations in black and grey-on-black lines supply some of this contrast, while the ‘stained glass’ line technique as a whole elevates each component part to a revered status.
