“Ocracoke dawn”, 2010
Artist: Barbara Lister-Sink
About the Artwork: Ocracoke Island is a second paradise to me, after my homeplace in Piedmont, North Carolina. I love getting up at dawn and biking out to the beach where I can turn 360 degrees and see nothing but the flat white strand, huge dunes, swirling waves and an enormous, ever-changing sky. The dazzling sun bouncing off the water and wet sand, and the oceanic clouds transport me to places far, far away.
