About the Artwork: I create vibrant textiles full of texture and color—made entirely from recycled materials like plastic shopping bags, wires, old clothing, and holiday decorations. Sustainability is at the core of my creative practice, allowing the transformation of trash to treasure into a unique weaving full of joy and hope. Under the Sea is the first in an ongoing series of large-scale weavings that are perfect for bigger spaces like corporate offices and university buildings. It was made on a four-harness floor loom, and the weft is made from a mix of blue and green materials, bound together with a multi-colored warp.
