About the Artwork: I painted this from a trip back to my home state of Maryland. I wanted to capture the way a row of sun-heavy flowers seems to lean in and gossip along the garden's edge, watching the path wind toward the cool blue shade of the trees. Using rich, tactile pastels, I tried to bottle that golden summer hum—where the light is warm, the air is still, and the sunflowers feel just as alive as you do walking by.
